A device of the rotary rake wheel type for laterally displacing crop lying on the ground, comprises at least one rake wheel provided with a stripper for removing soil from its tines. Referring to Fig. 2, the rake wheels each comprise a disc 42 mounted on its respective shaft, and a ring 43 bolted to the disc, the inner ends of rods 45 being clamped between the disc and the ring. The rods are then passed through holes in a rim 50 and are bent at their outer ends to form tines 49. An arm 51 carrying the stripper is also mounted on the rake wheel shaft, being formed at its inner end with a strap 52 which is clamped on to the shaft by means of a split collar 53 and bolts 54 and 55. The stripper is so arranged that the tines brush against it with a certain amount of pressure, the cleaning of the tines thus being ensured As shown in Fig. 1, the rake wheels, all of which are provided with strippers, are mounted on a beam 25 supported from the power lift links of a tractor. The coupling device between the beam and the lift links comprises a horizontal beam 10 and two upwardly slanting members 12 and 13 mounted between the ends of the lift links 3, 4 and 5. A ring 18 is mounted in the triangular structure so formed, so as to be rotatable about a vertical axis, the position of the ring being fixed by means of a pin 20 engaged in a hole in a strip 19 attached to the ring, and also in one of a plurality of holes in a semi-circular strip 16 fixed to the beam 10. A tube 21 is attached to the ring 18 so as to be pivotable about the horizontal axis 22, movement of the tube about this axis being restricted by a spring 23. A shaft 24 integral with the beam 25 is rotatably housed in the tube 21, rotation of the shaft being prevented when necessary by the pin 32 engaging holes in the tube and in the shaft. The construction may be modified by mounting the rake wheels on cranks rotatably mounted on a tractor-drawn beam, rotation of the cranks relative to the beam being restricted by springs in the usual manner, and in this case only the rearmost rake wheel is provided with a stripper.
