Abstract
838,056. Moving coil instrument. SANGAMO WESTON Ltd. Oct. 12, 1956 [Oct. 13, 1955], No. 29209/55. Class 37. In an instrument of the permanent magnet core type a one-piece pole structure shoe of substantially cylindrical form surrounds the magnetic core and is rigidly secured thereto. A nearly cylindrical magnet 1, Fig. 4, on which two flats 2, 3 are formed to facilitate orientation, fits within a pole shoe 4 which equalizes the field in the gap between the pole shoe and the yoke 30, Fig. 8. The pole shoe is slotted to reduce shunting of the flux and to allow the entry of non-magnetic material 12, 17 which locks the magnet within the pole shoe and forms part of the die-cast or moulded mounting 34, Fig. 1. The complete assembly of magnet, pole shoe, and coil can be inserted into the yoke 30 which has a locking screw and two internal keyways for the accurate location of the assembly.
