Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0835782/IV (b)/1> where R1 and R2 are cycloalkyl groups of 5-7 carbon atoms, which may be substituted by C1-C6 alkyl or cycloalkyl or by C1-C4 alkoxy; R1 and R2 may also be al-tetrahydronaphthyl or -decalyl (a - or b -). They can be made from benzthiazole - 2 - sulphenyl chloride and the appropriate secondary amine in an inert diluent at a slightly elevated temperature. Compounds mentioned have as R1 and R2 (same or different): cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl, cycloheptyl, methylcyclohexyl, diethylcyclohexyl, t - butylcyclohexyl, ethoxycyclohexyl, cyclohexylcyclohexyl and b -decalyl. An example is given of the preparation of the N : N-dicyclohexyl compound. Specification 434,806 and U.S.A. Specification 1,942,790 are referred to.ALSO:Natural or synthetic rubber is vulcanized using as accelerator a compound of the formula <FORM:0835782/IV (a)/1> where R1 and R2 are cycloalkyl groups of 5-7 carbon atoms, which may be substituted by C1-C6 alkyl or cycloalkyl or by C1-C4 alkoxy; R1 and R2 may also be al-tetrahydronaphthyl or -decalyl (a - or b -). The synthetic rubber can be a polymer of butadiene, isoprene, dimethylbutadiene or a homologue, or a copolymer of a conjugated diolefine with a compound such as styrene, methylstyrene, acrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile, an acrylate, a methacrylate or isobutylene. There may also be present anti-agers, anti-oxidants, anti-ozonants, sulphur or selenium, reinforcing fillers and softeners. Suitable accelerators are mentioned, and compositions are disclosed containing carbon black, zinc oxide, sulphur, stearic acid, petroleum softener, pine tar, phenyl-b -naphthylamine, N-cyclohexyl - N1 - phenyl - p - phenylenediamine, paraffin, wool fat, colophony and an esterplasticizer. Specification 434,806 and U.S.A. Specification 1,942,790 are referred to.
