Abstract

Cellulose textile materials are flameproofed by impregnating them with an aqueous solution of a water-soluble aminoplast resin precondensate and a water-soluble phosphoramidate ester of the general formula (RO)2 : PO NH2, in which R is an halogen-substituted alkyl radical, drying and baking them. The resin may be urea-formaldehyde, melamineformaldehyde, thio-urea-formaldehyde or mixtures thereof and may be used as precondensate or a mixture of the resin-forming ingredients. Esters that may be used are bis-2-chloroethyl phosphoramidate, and the corresponding chloromethyl and chloropropyl esters. A water-soluble catalyst for the resin condensation, e.g. borolactic acid, ammonium phosphate or magnesium chloride, may be included in the solution. According to the Provisional Specification, esters in which R is an alkyl radical may be used. Specification 765,222 is referred to.
