834,684. Filters. HARVEY, J. B. March 12, 1958 [April 26, 1957], No. 13383/57. Class 46. Solids contained in liquid drawn in at 8, Fig. 1, are intercepted by one of three screens 3, Fig. 2, on a rotor 2 of an interceptor 15, Fig. 4, the filtrate passing though a slot 7 in a fixed hollow shaft 4 having a partition 5, and being withdrawn at 9 by a pump 14. The filtrate is forced by the pump along line 20 into the other end of shaft 4, whence it passes through another slot 6, Fig. 1, backwashing those screens 3, or parts of screens, which are in communication with the slot 6. Thus the liquid containing all the solids once more is discharged at 21.
