833,479. Photographic processing apparatus. HANSEN, K., and KNUTSEN, E. J. Feb. 1, 1957 [Feb. 2, 1956], No. 3604/57. Class 98(2) In a film processing spool having flanges of skeleton framework construction, radial arms of the flanges are serrated to provide a spiral support for both edges of the film strip. As shown, a guide member 21 carries the curved film between the flanges 9, 10 having serrated radial arms 15 and releases it so that it engages the appropriate notches. The guide member 21 is pivotally mounted on the base plate 1 outside the spool and carries an arm 30 having finger 31 which rides in a spiral groove 40 in turntable 4 driven by a motor 6. The arm may be moved vertically to disengage the finger 31 from the groove. The spool is rotated with turntable 4 about fixed spindle 3 and the guide member 21 and arm 30 track as in a gramophone and deliver the film strip in a spiral path. The film runs between rollers 27, 28 and flanges 25, 26 of the guide member from a roll on a rod adjustably mounted on the base plate. Spool flanges 4, 10 are detachably secured to core 11 by nuts 12, 13. Specification 291,337 is referred to.
