Abstract

832,893. Air-break isolating switches. ETABLISSEMENTS MERLIN & GERIN S.A. June 2, 1958, No. 17496/58. Class 38 (5). To close the contacts of an isolating switch, one part 8 of a hinged switch arm is turned by an operating rod 7 about a shaft 3 and a rack 6 pivoted about a shaft 5 offset from the shaft 3 turns a pinion 16 to rotate the other part 11 of the arm relative to the first part. The pinion 16 and the part 11 are fixed to a shaft 10 pivoted in the part 8 and the gear ratio of the pinion and rack is such that as the part 8 is turned through 90 degrees, the part 11 is turned through 180 degrees relative to the part 8, the arm being straight and vertical when the contacts are closed.
