Abstract
831,983. Automatic exchange systems. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd., and WHEATCROFT, L. Oct. 4, 1957 [Oct. 5, 1956], No. 30481/56. Class 40 (4). The stepping circuit of a subscriber's uniselector includes normally closed interrupter contacts, normally open line relay contacts, and normally closed cut-off relay contacts, the cutoff relay responding, over a circuit which includes the interrupter contacts, to one of two voltage conditions encountered by a test wiper of the uniselector. As shown, the stepping magnet DM interacts with the interrupter contacts dm when line relay LR responds to a call. Operation of LR also connects up test wiper DM4 over low resistance winding 8 of cut-off relay K, rectifier 10, and contacts dm to earth. A short-circuit is also put across terminals 4 and 5 to the subscriber's meter. The busy condition of an outlet is earth and the idle condition is negative resistance battery which causes K to respond. Operation of K busies the seized first selector, extends the line forward which releases LR, and locks up to earth returned from the first selector in a circuit including winding 9 and magnet DM which however does not operate. When K falls back on release of the first selector, wiper DM1 provides a homing circuit for the selector which may have a number of home positions.
