Abstract
Floats for a buoyant cable (see Group XXXVI) are made from thermoplastic or thermosetting resin moulded blanks of annular form, the resin powder being combined with a swelling agent which decomposes on heating and evolves gas which results in a finished float having a cellular structure and a hard and continuous surface. The resin may be p.v.c., the swelling agent a nitrogen-containing organic compound, and a hardening agent may be added.
