Abstract

<PICT:0830941/III/1> An apparatus for coating articles 51 comprises a container 13 for a coating liquid, a support 45 for the articles 51 arranged in the container 13 for rotation about a vertical axis, fixed means 40 immediately above the support 45 affording a spiral path of travel for the articles 51 on the support 45 from the centre to the periphery thereof during rotation, and means, e.g. a motor 12 and transmission 26 ... 28, for rotating the support 45. The support 45 is suspended by brackets 44 from a rotatable sleeve 17 carried by a bearing 25. Cylindrical articles 51 are delivered sequentially to the support 45, rotation of which moves them longitudinally through a spiral path and simultaneously causes them to roll about their longitudinal axes, a rubber belt conveyer 55 taking them out of the container 13.
