The picture tube of a television receiver is screened from extraneous light by means of a hood formed by two doors 11 (Figs. 1 and 2) and a top member comprising side portions 12, attached to the doors, and a central portion 14 connected to the doors by link members 16 the arrangement being such that when the doors are closed the portions 12 and 14 slide into a recess in the top of the cabinet (Fig. 3).
