Manually operated mechanism for cableactuated apparatus such as windows, ventilators, shutters or the like comprises a sprocket 4 mounted upon a base 1 and adapted to be engaged by a detachable handle 18 to drive a chain 11 coupled at its ends to the ends of the actuating cable 10 by clamps 12. The cable ends pass through bores in a guide member 9 secured to the casing which is closed by a detachable cover 2.
