Abstract
g -d -Olefinic ketones are prepared by heating a b -ketone ester with an a -b -olefinic or an a -b -acetylenic alcohol in the presence as catalyst of at least one alkanolate of a metal from Group II or III of the Periodic Table. Specified metals are magnesium and aluminium. Examples relate to the preparation of 2-methyl-hept-2-ene-6 - one, 2,6 - dimethyl - undeca - 2,6 - diene - 10 - one, pseudo-ionones, and pseudo-irones, identified by means of the semicarbazones. Specification 789,411, [Group IV (a)], is referred to.
