Abstract

Body parts, such as prosthetic ears, noses, cheeks, &c. are moulded from a cold-curing silicone, such as dimethyl-polysiloxane, with suitable fillers and colouring agents. Examples of suitable hardening agents are tetra-allyl silicate, tetra-ethyl silicate, disilicic hexa-allyl ester or trisilicic octaethyl ester combined with dibutylamine, di - n - hexylamine, di - n - propylamine, piperidine or tetraethyl pentamine. Fillers may be mineral oxides, glass fibres or glass powder, ebony powder, bone powder or synthetic resin materials and colouring material may be incorporated in the resin before curing or the surface may be treated with dyes dissolved in substances which adhere to the silicone material. If desired, the part may be moulded over a support of metal, glass or synthetic resin.
