[Also in Group IX] Each link of a pattern chain for a knitting- machine, for example, for controlling the thread guide bars of a warp machine comprises a central body section 14 the upper edge 24 of which is sloped to provide a follower surface which connects follower surfaces 22, 23 provided on lug sections 17, 16 on either side of the body section 14. The surfaces 22, 23 of each link are of different height so that each link provides two positions for a follower, and the end of one or both lug sections is sloped downwardly, as at 25, to facilitate the passage of the follower from one link to the next.
