819,361. Sodium aluminium silicate : silica. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. March 14, 1956 [March 19, 1955], No. 7941/56. Classes 1 (2) and 1 (3). [Also in Group VIII] Silica or a sodium aluminium silicate is prepared by precipitation of an alkaline earth metal silicate from aqueous alkali metal silicate followed by reaction of the silicate with an acid or aluminium sulphate. If a conversion of silicate to silica with acid is carried out until a pH of less than 4 is reached, porous products having a particle size of 0.03-0.3 microns and a surface area greater than 90 sq. m./g. (specified method) are produced. Specifications 745,822 and 786,754 are referred to.
