Abstract

The invention comprises deserpidic acid lactone (and its salts) and the preparation thereof by treating deserpidic acid (see Specification 809,913) with an acid anhydride, especially acetic anhydride. The product may be obtained as free base or a salt and one may be converted into the other; salts that may be prepared are the hydrohalides, sulphate, phosphates, nitrate, isethionate, toluenesulphonate, acetate, tartrate and citrate. An example is given of the process. Specification 809,912 also is referred to.
