Abstract

818,860. Valve oscillator circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 10, 1958 [Jan. 14, 1957], No. 1018/58. Class 40 (6.). An oscillator comprises a valve, a frequency determining tuned circuit and a resistive element having a high temperature coefficient of resistance for limiting the amplitude of the generated oscillations. The oscillator is characterized in that the cathode of the valve is connected through a resistor to a point of constant potential and the oscillatory circuit is connected between this point and the control grid of the valve. A potential divider consisting of the resistor having a high temperature coefficient of resistance and another resistor, is connected across the cathode load and the common point of these two resistors is connected to a tapping on the oscillatory circuit to provide the feedback path. In the embodiment shown the tuned circuit formed by the inductance L and the capacitors C 1 and C 2 is connected between the grid of valve B and earth and the potential divider is formed by a resistor R 1 and a resistor with a high negative temperature coefficient of resistance R ntc . This potential divider is connected across the cathode resistor R k via a blocking capacitor C 3 and the feedback path is completed by joining the junction of R 1 and R ntc to the junction of C 1 and C 2 .
