Abstract
818,649. Electroplating apparatus. ABBEY, H. G. March 29, 1957 [April 6, 1956; Aug. 1, 1956], No. 10371/57. Class 41. [Also in Group XXX] Perforated cylindrical barrels containing articles to be electroplated are rotatably supported between the dependent arms of a yoke 19 suspended beneath a trolley running on an overhead track of a conveyer (see Group XXX). The yoke has two electrodes 28 which rest on contact saddles 29 when the barrel is lowered into a treating-tank. The barrel is rotated in the tank by a motor 24 adjacent the tank engaging a gear 27 on the barrel through suitable gearing. The conveyer may comprise a series of treatment-tanks as shown in Fig. 1, of which tank B may be an electrocleaning tank. A conductor on the yoke may engage a V-shaped socket to convey electricity to the barrel. Alternatively, the articles may be supported on a rack instead of in barrels.
