817,788. Washing-machines. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Aug. 22, 1957 [Sept. 11, 1956], No. 26522/57. Class 138 (2). [Also in Group XIII] A laundry apparatus comprises, in combination, a clothes washing machine having a casing structure provided with an access opening in its front wall covered by a door, a top plate structure in a horizontal plane at the uppermost margin of the casing structure, and a clothes drying machine suitable for operation as a free standing device or for operation inverted mounted on the washing machine, the housing of the drying machine having a plate structure adjacent its lowermost edge for engagement with the top plate structure of the washing machine and means for securing the plate structures together for aligning the casing structure and housing. As shown, the washing machine 10 and drier 11 may stand side-by-side or the drier be superimposed on the washer and the two machines clamped together by means of plates 17 of the washer casing provided with bolt holes 38 for the reception of bolts 39. The lower margin of drier housing 25 has horizontal flanges 41 extending inwardly from the offset portions 31 of the housing, which flanges 41 rest on the plates 17 (Fig. 4). Bolts 39 have washers 42 and nuts 43 to attach two machines together firmly. Casing 12 and housing 25 and aligned by tie members 44 secured to offset portions 21 and 31 of casing 12 and housing 25 by means of screws 45. The crack between the casing 12 and housing 25 is covered by trim strip 46. Timers 22 and 32 are located adjacent each other for ease of control and simplicity of electrical connection. The drier may be of the hot air type, and the washing machine of the fully automatic rotating drum type, which spindries after washing. Specification 800,007 is referred to,
