817,682. Cleaning fibres. PNEUMATIC CONVEYORS (HUDDERSFIELD) Ltd., and BARRACLOUGH, E. C. Nov. 3, 1955 [Aug. 3, 1954], No. 22484/54. Class 120(1) A waste shaker for cleaning fibres comprises beater arms 5a mounted in a rotatable cage, and means for driving the cage so that the cage bottom is continuously changed and relative movement occurs between the cage and beater arms. As shown cage 2 is conical and made up of four removable steel grates 10 with inclined bars 11. It is mounted on rollers 3, the rollers at one end being driven via pulleys 7, 8 from the beater shaft 5 so that the cage rotates counter to the beater arms. Alternatively the cage and beaters may rotate in the same direction at different speeds. The ends of the cage are open to provide an inlet and an outlet for the fibres Material to be cleaned is delivered by suction means to the narrow end of the cage; cleaned material is discharged at the other end of the cage into a suction conduit 9; dirt shaken from the material falls into a trough 4a and is discharged by a worm conveyer 4.
