An apparatus for cleaning and sterilizing static and other tanks comprises rigid frame elements 3, 4, 5 secured to the tank 1 for supporting a motor 8 and gear elements 7 above the tank, a vertically disposed hollow shaft 9 driven by said gear elements, one or more spray devices 20 coupled to the shaft 9 and an upper gland unit 10 for connection with a hose or pipe 13. The one or more spray devices 20 may be on a detachable extension 9x of the shaft 9 to facilitate cleaning. An agitator may be mounted on a lowermost extension of the shaft 9.
