Abstract
816,798. Dampers; baffles. HEATH, J. E. May 31, 1957 [June 11, 1956], No. 17912/56. Class 126 A throat restrictor for a fireplace opening 3, Fig. 1, comprises a plate assembly 1 pivotally supported in a frame 2 mounted horizontally across the opening by screws 4 on lugs 5. The assembly 1 is mounted on a cross-member 9 by pins 10 which engage lugs 11 on the frame to enable the assembly to be removed for sweeping purposes. The assembly comprises a plate 17, Fig. 2, slidably carried between guides 19 formed by the inturned edges of a pivoted plate 16 and clamped in position by a nut and bolt 22, 20. The assembly is moved between front and rear stops 13, 14 by a poker &c. inserted in an eye 15 on the lower rearward edge of the plate 16. In a modification, access to a rear boiler is obtained by omitting the rear portion of the frame 2 and substituting stays supported from a front member 7.
