Abstract
816,402. Heaters for starting. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG A.G. June 14, 1956 [June 14, 1955; Dec. 9, 1955], No. 18388/56. Classes 7(2) and 7(3) The invention relates to a starting heater in which fuel air mixture is burnt in the induction pipe, As shown fuel from a container 6 is mixed with air in the induction pipe 2 and ignited by sparks produced at a gap 8. The control rotates to control conjointly the fuel valve 11, the throttle valve 4 and the ignition. The control can be effected automatically by known means such as a bimetal switch or electrical or hydraulic control. The air passage 10 in the throttle valve is about 10 times the diameter of the nozzle 5. It is possible to draw the heating flame into the combustion chamber of the cylinder. In a modification the control valve 11 is dispensed with and the top of the container 6 is connected to the induction pipe upstream of the throttle valve. A suction operated auxiliary air valve may be mounted on the throttle valve or as shown in Fig. 4 an auxiliary air valve 20 may be controlled by a bimetallic strip 21. The auxiliary air valve may be operated automatically by a temperature responsive element or by a time responsive element or both elements together such an element can be located in the induction pipe being under the influence of the ignited mixture flowing through the suction pipe, The engine may employ fuel injection or the mixture may be formed outside the cylinder. A known arrangement of a burner in the induction pipe and a fan is referred to.
