815,769. Motor vehicle driving gear. ETABLISSEMENTS MATENIN. Nov. 27, 1957 [Jan. 18, 1957], No. 36969/57. Class 79(2) [Also in Group XXI] In an endless chain bucket type excavator mounted on a wheeled chassis 1 the engine 4 is connected directly to an hydraulic torque converter 5 incorporating a two speed gear box in the output shaft. A cardan shaft 6 connects the output of the converter to a gear-box 7 which permits power to be supplied either to the digging means 8 or via a further 2- speed gear-box to the road wheels 2 and 3. Both front and rear axles have differentials (13 and 12 respectively) fitted which are connected together by a cardan shaft 14 having means to engage or disengage the drive from one axle to. the other as required. The engine 4 also drives an hydraulic pump 16 supplying pressure fluid to a variable speed motor unit 17 arranged to drive the front axle and hence if desired the rear ,axle. The invention is also stated to be applicable to a tracked vehicle.
