Abstract

815,147. Duplicating magnetic records. TOKYO DENKI KAGAKU KOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHA, and IIOSHINO, Y. Oct. 22, 1957 [Oct. 23, 1956; Dec. 26, 1956], No. 32999/57. Class 40 (2). Apparatus for duplicating magnetic recording sheets from a master sheet, comprising locating means for positioning the master sheet relative to a recording machine, and means for forming a second locating means in the duplicating sheet in accordance with the location of the master sheet. In the embodiment described with reference to Figs. 4 and 5, a master sheet M is located on a base plate 10 with its magnetic coated side uppermost. A duplicating sheet P, having a magnetic coated area somewhat larger than that of the master sheet M is placed face downwards on the master sheet beneath a pressure plate 11. Punching means 12, 12<SP>1</SP> perforate both sheets identically prior, or after, the printing operation which consists of applying a magnetic field through the sheets. The field may be alternating or direct of sufficient density to effect printing and is then decreased to zero. A modification of this apparatus is shown in Fig. 6 in which guide members 13 locate the duplicating sheet. A method is shown in Fig. 8 by which means duplication is carried out on a cylinder 15. During printing the cylinder is rotated by a pressure roller 16, and stationary electromagnets 18, 18<SP>1</SP> within the cylinder 15 and roller 16, respectively, ensure a concentrated field at the point of contact.
