Class 93 Metal members are applied to plastic articles which are softenable by a volatile solvent by sticking a thin layer of sheet plastic material which is softenable by the same solvent to the back of the metal member by means of an adhesive and then attaching the metal member so backed to the plastic article by softening both plastic surfaces which are to be united by means of the said solvent, bring- ing the two plastic surfaces into contact and allowing the join to harden. The method may be used for applying metal ornaments to spectacle frames made of cellulose acetate or celluloid, the sheet plastic material also being cellulose acetate or celluloid, suitable solvents being acetone or amyl acetate.
