Abstract

813,411. Electrical pyrometers. BRITISH THOMSON HOUSTON CO. Ltd. Oct. 24, 1957 [Oct. 24, 1956], No. 32439/56. Class 40 (3). Apparatus for indicating a variation in radiant energy emitted from different regions of a body or bodies, e.g. from point to point on a moving wire 1 comprises a detector 5 which is rocked by a cam 10 so as to receive radiation alternately from the wire 1 and a body 4 at constant temperature, and a cathode-ray tube 12 having its beam deflected by plates 13 along one axis corresponding with the region being sensed and by plates 15 along the other axis in response to the radiation received. The plates 13 are connected to a rheostat 14 controlled by the cam 10. The detector 5 has a narrow slit through which radiation passes to a lens and a thermal responsive device.
