An electrical acceleration measuring or vibration measuring apparatus, working with carrier frequency modulation and comprising a freely projecting tongue 4 serving as a vibratory element in an inductive or capacitative transmitter is characterized in that the tongue is cut out of a wall 3 disposed intermediate of opposite ends of, and formed integrally with, the housing 2 of the transmitter. The invention is a modification of the apparatus disclosed in the parent Specification and the tongue is cut from the wall 3 with a fine saw. As shown, the free end of the tongue has a core attached comprising outer soft iron portions 10 separated from each other by an intermediate non-ferrous portion 11. The core moves relatively to a pair of windings 12, 13 which are mounted on a disc 18 which is screwed to an annular shoulder of the wall 3. The movement of the core varies the inductance of the windings 12, 13. Opposite ends of the housing 2 are closed by a cover 1 and a base 1a and if desired the spaces between the intermediate base 3, the cover 1 and the base la can be filled with a liquid such as silicone oil and a damping plate can be attached to the tongue 1 in the space between the intermediate base 3 and the base 1a. The tongue is given a U- shape in cross-section by means of a milled recess 4a in its underside and it tapers in crosssection towards its free end. The transducer is used in a bridge circuit the two windings forming adjacent arms of the bridge and resistors other two arms. The bridge is supplied with an A.C. carrier frequency from an oscillator and variations of the inductance of the windings 12, 13 amplitude modulates the carrier frequency at the vibration frequency. The output -from the bridge after amplification is rectified by a phase-sensitive rectifier and after passing through a filter circuit is applied to an oscillograph or recording instrument. In a modification the core and the windings can be replaced by the parts of variable condensers.
