813,042. Sports rackets. SLAZENGERS Ltd. Aug. 25, 1955 [Sept. 8, 1954], No. 26015/54. Class 132(2) A sports racket or racket frame has a pair of preformed fibrous material overlays 2 applied to at least the front and rear facings of the racket frame extending over the lower part of the head frame 4 for a predetermined distance up the sides of the frame, the fibrous material being treated with binding medium to give stiffness to the overlays which are adhered to the racket by a bonding agent and pressure. The term "fibrous material" indicates glass fibre and/or rayon or other suitable organic resin fibres, threads or filaments, in woven, braided or plaited formation, or in chopped or staple fibre form or in plated form. Preferably the overlay is of laminated construction. A wooden overlay 3 may be first adhered to the frame and the fibrous overlay applied on it, extending over the throat of the racket and down the handle 8. Alternatively the fibrous overlay may be adhered directly to the frame and a smaller overlay of wood or synthetic resin secured over the fibrous overlay to extend towards or over the throat of the racket.
