Abstract
811,488. Engraving. JOHANNESON, H. C. W. June 21, 1957 [June 25, 1956], No. 19550/57. Class 100(2) A holding device for engraving- templets 23, Figs. 3 and 4, comprises a series of rails 8 alternating with a series of rails 15, the rails having grooves 22, 21 forming tracks along which the templets can slide. Journalled in side pieces 1 are a series of spindle pairs 3, each pair comprising a spindle or spindle section of lefthand thread and one of right-hand thread, engaging respective non-rotatably-held nuts 7 formed as or carrying grippers 10, so that the grippers are moved together or apart when the spindles are rotated by knobs 4 or a crank engaging square spindle-ends 6. When in operative position as shown on the left in Fig. 3, a templet or row of templets is held between the grippers 10. After loosening the grippers, rotation by handles 26 of shafts 18 causes, through pinions 19 and racks 25 formed on the rails 15, the corresponding rails 15 to rise as shown on the right in Fig. 3, so that the templets are clear of the grippers and can be removed.
