Abstract
809,512. Automatic exchange switches. NORTHROP AIRCRAFT Inc. Nov. 7, 1955 [Feb. 21, 1955], No. 31741/55. Class 40 (4). A wiper 92 is stepped over a plurality of contacts 100 on a board 98 by the action of a pawl 62 on a ratchet wheel 76, the number of contacts 100 being an integral multiple of the number of teeth on the ratchet wheel 76; each step is limited by the engagement of the pawl 62 with a front stop 14 forming part of the frame of the switch. As shown, the wiper 92 has a plurality of arms and may be driven in either direction by two pawls 62, each actuated by a magnet 12 which also operates contacts 44. The ratchet wheel 76 is engaged by two detents each comprising a roller 84 carried on a spring 82.
