Abstract

Sinterable material is mixed with a non-thermosetting moulding vehicle comprised of at least one component insoluble in, and at least one component soluble in, a prescribed solvent in its vapour, shaped by heat and pressure, treated with the solvent to remove the soluble part of the vehicle, and fixed to remove remainder of vehicle, and densify the shape. Specified sinterable materials are the ceramics disclosed in Specification 779,242, e.g. alumina, rutile, steatite, wollastonite, and also carbides.
