Abstract
808,257. Boots and shoes. PLOT, J. April 18, 1957 [April 24, 1956], No. 12783/57. Class 17(2) [Also in Group VIII] Flexible leather, particularly suede leather, for use in shoe uppers, is provided on the reverse face of the leather with a plurality of uniformly distributed fine holes, preferably of conical shape, which extend for a predetermined depth of the leather but terminate short of the obverse face of the leather so that the obverse face is unaltered. The depth of the holes is <SP>1</SP>/ 3 -<SP>2</SP>/ 3 of the leather thickness and these may be 6-5, preferably 9-10, holes per sq. cm. The depth of the hole may be 1.8 mm. and its diameter at the face 1.0-1.2 mm. Fig. 2 is a fragmentary sectional view through a sheet of leather treated with a tool shown in fragmentary sectional view in Fig. 4.
