Class 126 [Also in Group XIII] An air circulating and heating device for use particularly in association with an open fireplace comprises one or more upright, open ended hollow members of transluscent, preferably transparent synthetic plastic material which preferably absorbs the infra-red rays for example polymethylmethacrylate. The device may as shown in Fig. 1, comprise a hollow screen made up of two or more flat, curved or corrugated plates 3 of the transluscent synthetic plastic material which may be supported e.g. in a wood or metal frame 4 on feet 5 so that the device can be stood on the ash trap 2 in front of an open fire place 1. Alternatively, the device may, as shown in Fig. 9, comprise a plurality of tubes 16 made of the transluscent synthetic plastic material and arranged side by side, the tubes being glued at their upper and lower ends to horizontal bars 17.
