807,918. Automatic control systems for aircraft SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO. Ltd. July 12, 1956 [July 29, 1955], No. 21925/55. Addition to 803,572. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (4). [Also in Groups XXXIII and XXIX] In a system, as in the parent Specification, in in which a main hydraulic servomotor actuating a control surface of an aircraft may be automatically or manually controlled through an electrical control system, or manually controlled through a mechanical control system, a spring- loaded yieldable coupling is added between the manual controller and the artificial feel device associated with it so that, if sufficient force is applied to the manual controller during electric automatic control, the coupling yields and opens a switch to change over the system to mechanical control. This yieldable coupling is additional to that provided in the parent Specification which requires more force to operate it since the artificial feel device must be operated with it. The switches associated with the two yieldable couplings are connected in series. The switch associated with the additional yieldable coupling is shorted during electric manual control to prevent changeover. Specification 803,574 is referred to.
