Abstract
807,517. Washing dust-laden air. POTTERIES VENTILATING & HEATING CO. Ltd. Oct. 19, 1956 [Oct. 20, 1955], No. 29961/55. Class 55 (2). Apparatus for washing dust from air comprises a casing having one or more doors in one or both sides giving access to two filter packs 28 and 29 each consisting of a panel of perforated or mesh material carrying a quantity of loose filtering medium which can, when necessary, be removed and replaced through the door or doors in the sides of the casing, a number of perforated pipes 25 connected to a header 24 being arranged to spray the lower filter pack 28 with water circulated from a tank 10 and wash the air drawn through the apparatus by a fan 36, the upper filter pack 29 removing excess water from the washed air. The filtering medium may be shredded material, shavings or turnings of metal, plastic or wood. Spreader plates 32 may be arranged beneath each hole in the tubes 25 and the tank 10 has an opening 17, for removal of mud, the opening being sealed by an inclined plate 16 as shown.
