806,980. Lens cleaning devices. WILEY, T. M. Feb. 22, 1957 [April 28, 1956], No. 13093/56. Class 97(1) A lens cleaning device comprises a holder having two arms which permanently extend in the same direction from a connecting portions at which they are connected together, pad members carried by these arms at or near their free ends and having cleaning faces disposed in opposed face to face relation so as to be adapted to contact opposite surfaces of a lens to be cleaned, and said face being normally urged towards or into mutual contact by the free ends or the arms being: resiliently urged relatively towards each other transverse to the lens surfaces to be cleaned, and said pad members being formed with bevelled edges which combine to form a "lead in" to facilitate introduction between the cleaning faces of an edge of a lens to be cleaned. The holder may be made of a single length of material, e.g. sheet meta' bent, as shown, into two arms 11 integrally connected by a part 12 and carrying button-like pad members 14 at their free ends 13. Each pad member is fastened to its associated arm 11 by a press stud and comprises a backing member 19 to the periphery of which is secured a cover portion 20 forming a lens cleansing face and having a bevelled edge 27. Between the cover 20 and a packing disc 23 is a resilient filling as of sponge rubber. There may be provided an enclosure member adapted partially or wholly to enclose the pad members when not in use.
