Class 29 In a refrigerant evaporator in which the refrigerant passages 2 are formed either by pressing out or by subsequent dilating by fluid pressure metal sheets welded together face to face, the sensing member of the thermal control is mounted in a further recess 3 formed between the sheets. A housing with the passages formed therein has the area shaded in Fig. 2 cut off to provide opening 6 for recess 3 and refrigerant inlet and outlet 4, 5. The part of the housing containing recess 3 is then bent up to allow insertion of the sensing member.
