Class 73 An identification device for a key comprises a cap 20 Fig. 3 made of a flexible stretchable material such as rubber and having two flat sides 21 connected along their peripheries but leaving an insertion opening 22 so that the cap can be fitted over the head of a key 27. Each side is provided with registering holes 23 adapted to register with the hole in the key. An identification mark is provided on the cap and/or the cap be have a distinguishing colour or a part or whole of the cap may be made luminescent. In another form Fig. 5 an apertured tongue 30 is provided on the cap and one side 21 is formed with a frame 35 of embossed ribs which are grooved to take a designation plate, the ends of which are inserted in pockets 34 laterally adjoining the grooves. Alternatively one side of the cap may have a cut-out portion 40 Figs. 11, 12 (not shown), a designation plate 41 and a transparent protective cover 42 being interposed between the key head and the edges of the cut-out 40. In another embodiment, the cap 20 Fig. 13 may be joined by a web 51 to a smaller cap 52 adapted to receive the fore-part of the key 50. Two such devices may be formed back-to-back by means of a hollow rivet 60 Fig. 18 (not shown), passing through apertures in the tongues 30. In another form Fig. 21, each side 21 of the cap is formed with an angular cut-out 65 to permit insertion of the key head through a narrow opening 22 and the cap may be formed with lateral openings 68. An integral finger 70 with a ball-shaped tip 71 permits.the device and key to be hung in a holding member of a key case. F.or the same purpose a separate member 77, Fig. 22, in the shape of a split pin may be anchored by arms. 78 in the cap 20. In another embodiment projections 81 Fig. 25 serve for identification purposes and for ascertaining by touch the inserted position of the key. The cap may consist of transparent material so that a designation plate pushed in between the cap and the key head is visible from outside.
