Abstract

Part of a liquid-containing package is coated with plastic &c., to provide a film which forms a hygienic protection for an area later to form a pouring opening. Tetrahedron shaped packages 1 may be advanced by belts 24 to a position <PICT:0805983/III/1> where a trough 29 of the coating material is caused to rise by means 25-28 actuated by the package, and dip the lower corner 31. The packages may then pass to drying means (not shown). In alternative arrangements the lower corners may be sprayed or brushed by conventional means.
