Abstract

804,416. Rollers. AMERICAN VISCOSE CORPORATION. March 11, 1957, No. 8027/57. Class 42 (2). An ironer roll has a metal sleeve 20 covered by a mat 25 of steel wool, a layer 26 of silicone rubber compound and a thin fabric sleeve 22. The end 30 of the layer 26 may be glued or stapled to the end 31 of the mat 25. The end edges of the layer 26 extend beyond the end edges of the mat to enclose the latter against infiltration of moisture. Simpler constructions are described in which a layer of silicone rubber or of silicone rubber and fibre glass is interposed between the sleeves 20 and 22. The roll may have a Shore Scleroscope number of from 40 to 50.
