802,949. Hose-storage apparatus. COX, J. H. and COX, D. W. Dec. 17, 1956, No. 38468/56. Class 99(2). In apparatus wherein a hose 15 passes successively around a main sheave 19, a fixed sheave 21, and an auxiliary sheave 20, the sheaves 19, 20 are rotatably mounted in a support and have peripheral grooves which are in planes offset by a distance at least equal to the diameter of the hose, and the peripheral groove of the sheave 21 lies in a plane inclined to the first mentioned planes at such an angle that the portion of the hose extending between the sheaves 19, 21 is disposed in the plane of the groove in the sheave 19, and the portion of the hose extending between the sheaves 20, 21 is disposed in the plane of the groove in the sheave 20. As shown, the sheaves 19, 20 are journalled in the side arms 17, 18 of a yoke-type support straddling a weighted block 16, and the sheave 21 is journalled in an angulated yoke 22 secured to a member 23 adapted to hook in a bracket 24. The hose is secured to a valve 14 at the top of a casing 8, and the free end of the hose passes over guide rollers 27 and has secured thereto a rubber ball 28. The latter enables the hose to be withdrawn from the casing and prevents the free end of the hose from being drawn into the casing when retracted by gravitational action of the block 16. The casing may be divided by a partition 10 and house two hose systems.
