Abstract

801,211. Batteries. CHLORIDE BATTERIES, Ltd. April 2, 1957 [April 25, 1956], No. 12654/56. Class 53. The active material of a leadacid accumulator is held round lead spines c in microporous plastic tubes e each of which is surrounded by a closely fitting tube f of braided woven, or knitted fabric. The tubes e may be made of polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene or polystyrene, and the tubes f of glass yarn or a polyethylene or polyester yarn. The tubes f may be applied continuously to the inner tubes by passing the latter through a braiding machine and cutting the product into the required lengths. To prevent the cut ends from unravelling, a cement, for example, an epoxy resin, may be applied to the braid and allowed to set before cutting.
