Class 52(2) A bed-settee has a lower rectangular frame 11 supported on parallel links 12 pivoted to the outer framework 13 and an upper frame 14 slidably mounted above the lower frame on rollers 20 and carrying along each side a rack 15 meshing with a pinion 16 rotatably mounted in framework 13 on a shaft carrying a camwheel 18 which engages with a cam surface 30 on a rod 32 carrying a leg 35 having a caster 36 so that as frame 14 is pulled out leg 35 is lowered and a pin 22 engages a pawl 23 on frame 11 to move it forward and raise it on links 12 to the same level as frame 14. The cushion 40 moves out with frame 14 and may then be unfolded to give a level sleeping surface. The seat can be locked in closed position by a spring-biased bell-crank level engaging a pin. In a modification, Fig. 8, the rack and pinion is replaced by a guide wire 50 secured to frame 14 and wound about a screw cam 51. In a further modification, Fig. 9, links 12 are replaced by links 57 having a cog portion 58 in mesh with a pinion 56. In a further modification, the extension may be performed by an electric motor.
