Class 65(2) A non - metallic composition is moulded around the ball-end of the stud 50 to form the bearing surface engaging the socket 46, the continuity of the composition at the stud-end of the ball being interrupted by an inwardly extending slot: The slot is formed in the moulding process by insertion of a strip of material 52 into the space between the ball-end and the socket before the composition is injected. The composition may be nylon containing molybdenum sulphide or sawdust, phenolic resin, amino resin or polytetrafluorethylene. The stud may be double-ended with a central ball.
