Abstract

795,671. Batteries. OLDHAM & SON, Ltd., and MORTON, H. Feb. 20, 1956 [March 11, 1955; Nov. 4, 1955], Nos. 7272/55 and 31651/55. Class 53. Gases from an accumulator 1, Fig. 1, in a pressurized atmosphere, e.g. in an aircraft, are conducted to a neutralizing fluid container through an exhaust tube 6 which is formed of a number of parts 5 each corresponding to a linear series of vent plugs and each so formed that on lateral displacement of the part as a whole necks 13 on the part effect a gas-tight fit about the heads of the vent plugs. Fig. 2 shows a part 5 having protruding necks 13 which are a frictional fit over the heads 14 of the vent plugs. The necks may also be inwardly directed. Alternatively, as shown in Fig. 5, holes 16 are formed in the part 5 which is surrounded by a rubber sleeve 17 having holes corresponding to the holes 16 but of smaller diameter. The overlapping annuli 18 then form the necks when the part is applied to the vent plugs. The rubber sleeve can be replaced by washers stuck over the holes 16. The accumulator lid 2 is provided with channels 3 in which the parts 5 are housed and the parts may be arranged in parallel instead of in series as shown in Fig. 1.
