Abstract

Polyethylene film, in which the polyethylene has a short chain branching ratio not in excess of 2.3 and a density of at least 0.920, and containing a mixture of amides selected from (a) 20 to 25 per cent of palmitamide, 70 to 80 per cent of stearamide, and 2 to 5 per cent of oleamide; (b) 7 to 10 per cent of octanamide, 6 to 8 per cent of decanamide, 40 to 60 per cent of dodecanamide, 15 to 20 per cent of tetradecanamide, 8 to 10 per cent of hexadecanamide, 1 to 3 per cent of octadecanamide, 5 to 7 per cent of 9-octadecenamide, and 1 to 3 per cent of 9,12-octadecadienamide, and (c) 4 to 7 per cent of stearamide, 85-95 per cent of oleamide, and 2 to 5 per cent of linoleamide is block-resistant and has improved slip characteristics. Flat or tubular films may be extruded from the preformed mixture or in a modification the amides may be coated on the surface.
