Abstract

791,944. Jewellery. LESLIE, H. Nov. 30, 1955 [Nov. 30, 1954], No. 34694/54. Class 43 In mounting one or more jewels in an article of jewellery the steps include forming a base 1 with apertures 2, 3 and 4 corresponding in number to the number of jewels to be mounted and furnishing the base 1 with a setting member or members 8 having a corresponding number of shanks 5, 6 and 7 which are located in the base aperture or apertures 2, 3 and 4. The shanks 5, 6, 7 may be hollow and open or closed ended and may be soldered in position in the base 1, the projecting shank ends being removed by filing or other suitable method. The setting member 8 may be manufactured by stamping or centrifugal casting in which latter case the shanks 5, 6, 7 may be solid. Alternatively the shanks 5, 6, 7 may be cast in the apertures 2, 3, 4 of the base 1 during the formation of the setting member 8.
