Abstract
789,749. Barbed wire. UTILITE. May 5, 1955 [May 5, 1954 ; Jan. 31, 1955], No. 13102/55. Class 45. [Also in Groups X and XXII] In a barbed wire comprising a number of plates carried by a supporting wire, the plates are formed from pointed blanks, the edges of the blanks being cut and bent to form further points. As shown in Fig. 4, the strand 12 of a two strand twisted supporting wire is engaged by the lugs 10, 10a, 11, 11a of a plate. In a modification in which the supporting wire comprises a straight and a twisted strand, the straight strand is engaged by the lugs. As shown in Fig. 12 the plates are fixed to a supporting wire comprising a single strand, flaps formed by cuts 24, 25 being bent about the wire and the plates being soldered to the wire at 26, 27. In a further modification the plates are wrapped about a single wire. The edges of the plates may be sharpened. The supporting wire may be formed by short lengths connected by links, and the plates may loosely be attached to the wire.
